NEMSA Education Committee
Guidelines
Approved March 2004
Purpose: The Education
Committee will promote the highest quality of emergency medicine to the
state of Nebraska by providing financial and technical support to groups
and individuals that provide education to all EMS providers.
Goal: The Education Committee
will work as a partner with any other agencies or entities to build upon
and improve upon the educational standards to meet the committee’s
purpose.
1. The Education Committee will request a yearly report to be
presented to the membership as to the continuing education workshops
coordinated with Health and Human Services EMS Programs.
2. The Education Committee will request a yearly report to be
presented to the membership as to the numbers of EMS providers who
received reimbursement from Health and Human Services EMS Programs.
3. The Education Committee will offer technical assistance and
support to Health and Human Services EMS programs in planning and
implementing as many EMS continuing education programs as possible.
4. The Education Committee will offer technical support to groups
and individuals who offer EMS education located geographically across
Nebraska.
5. The Education Committee may offer financial support to groups
and individuals who offer EMS education located geographically across
Nebraska, providing those groups and individuals meet the following
guidelines:
a. All NEMSA supported continuing education must meet the DOT
objectives.
b. Any request for funding must be made by submitting a
“NEMSA Educational Grant
Application and Agreement” , and an outline
of the event schedule , including instructor
information, at least 90 days prior to the
event.
c. Any NEMSA supported training must be offered and
advertised to services in the
surrounding areas.
d. Within ninety days of the event the group or individual
who has requested the funding
will provide the education committee
with a report including the final schedule and
the roster.
e. All advertising for EMS education that receives
NEMSA funding will indicate funding
support from NEMSA in brochures
and advertising.
f. NEMSA may provide representation in the form of a
member or booth at the
one-day conference.
6. The Education Committee will vote on each individual request and
the voting may be done by phone or email with the Education Committee
chair.
• If funds are limited, preference will be given to NEMSA member squads.
• Additional consideration will also be given to areas of the state that
lack adequate
continuing education opportunities.
• Guidelines for NEMSA grants will be $150 for a three hour session and
$300 for a
one day workshop.
• Upon receipt of an approved Grant Application, including the required
final schedule,
roster, brochure indicating NEMSA support, and
completed reimbursement form, the
NEMSA Treasurer will make payment to the party
requesting funds.
7. The Winter and Spring Conference chairs, as well as the chairs
of any other conferences solely sponsored by NEMSA, will provide a report
to the Education Committee thirty days prior to the conference including
the proposed schedule of speakers and topics as well as a report thirty
days following the conference including the number of attendees.
8. The Education Committee will provide a comprehensive report
yearly at the July
meeting to the NEMSA board and the general membership to include:
a. The dollar amount spent during that year on
continuing education grants provided
by NEMSA.
b. The number of participants at each sponsored
conference and workshop.
